Study: Physicians Feel Pressured to Provide Unnecessary Care for VIP Patients
The study, published in the Journal of Hospital Medicine, surveyed hospitalists across eight hospitals about services provided to patients who are considered “VIPs.” In some hospitals, “VIP services” are provided to patients with close relationships to the hospital and may include extra space, enhanced facilities and extraneous comforts and supports.

How Hospital Executives Wish Their Hospitalists Would Act
Recently, I wrote a letter to hospital executives, urging them to deliberately invest their own personal time and effort in fostering hospitalist well-being. I suggested several actions that leaders can take to enhance hospitalist job satisfaction and reduce the risk of burnout and turnover. Following the publication of that post, I heard from several hospital executives and was pleasantly surprised that they all responded positively to my message.

Survey: 64% of Healthcare Providers Remain ‘Unprepared’ or ‘Very Unprepared’ for MACRA
A vast majority of healthcare providers still have work to do when it comes to preparing for the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act, according to a Health IT Industry Outlook Survey conducted by Stoltenberg Consulting. The survey took place during this year’s Health Information and Management Systems Society’s annual conference in Orlando, Fla. Participants included IT professionals, as well as executive/C-suite representatives.
